Bring this back. I don’t know why you gave up on it. You should’ve made an Evo version. Subie made a WRX/STi hatchback.
EDIT: I’m apparently the only person who likes these :(
Also you could probably make a killing making a cute-ute version of the Mirage ala the CX-3. Instead of making it a bare-bones bargain-bin FWD/AWD mode of transportation, pull a Hyundai and actually give it high content. You can probably sell a very nicely-loaded down CUV for under 18k.

What they really need to bring back

don’t bring it back as the rear is ugly

I’ll never stop being angry that this never reached American soil.

The Ralliart Sportback was an Evo “light”. AWD, turboed 4cyl, just not as beefed up as the Evo.

it went away because it sold like vanilla herpes.

it was basically an evo VII with less boost.

I’m pretty sure the Rallyart wasn’t AWD or turbo charged. Just a FWD Lancer with nice wheels, and tuned suspension.

The earlier Ralliarts were. The later Ralliarts were “detuned” Evos.

but people will buy vanilla herpes if it has a high power turbo and AWD (e.g. AMG CLA45)

Turbo herpes is still herpes.

Did you see the sales figures on the hatch? Abysmal. I’m pretty sure it barely crossed the 2,000 unit mark any year it was offered.
As for the Mirage, they’re redoing it for ‘17 and they already have a B-segment CUV in the Outlander Sport. But it’s worth a thought.
Personally, I'd want a Mirage turbo-3 before a CUV version.

I always hated these so yea kinda glad its gone. the rear is too sloped to have any noticeable advantage over sedan

It was an interesting product but I could never get over the shape of the rear

Also you could probably make a killing making a cute-ute version of the Mirage ala the CX-3.
The Outlander Sport is basically the same size as mini CUVs like the CX-3 and HR-V. It’s a good bit smaller than “compact” CUVs like the CX-5 and CR-V.

The Evo has always had a totally unique body shell and suspension compared to the regular Lancer, and Brembo brakes at all 4 corners.
If you look at Evo X vs. Ralliart, the Ralliart has a regular Lancer body shell and suspension with a detuned Evo X motor, top-mount instead of front-mount intercooler, the awd system from the Evo IX, and no Brembos.

Yeah, I was mostly referring to motor and drivetrain.

Ultimate vehicular injustice. Oh but we gave you the normal not-at-all-fun version. You did get a Lancer wagon variant. That’s good enough, right?
NO MOTHERFUCKER, NOT EVEN CLOSE. YOU DONE FUCKED IT UP!!!!

Yes. I was SOOOOO disappointed after they announced they were doing the hatch when I found out there wasn’t going to be an Evo.
Also: Mirage Evo? 10/10 would drive.

Ohh, now that’s unforgivable.

Those hatches were offensively stupid looking

oh I was not aware of that.
